If you get the latest snapshot from the mainline, it should configure
for arm-linux but you probably won't get a clean build because the
necessary support for ELF PIC code hasn't been merged yet. It's being
worked on now and should be in shortly. Same goes for binutils.
There are patches for the 1.1.1 release at
ftp://ftp.netwinder.org/users/p/philb/. As H.J said these are also
included in his `egcs/linux' package.
If you're a Red Hat afficionado, the latest EGCS SRPM in Rawhide has
ARM support. Alternatively if you're a Debian follower I believe the
EGCS package in whatever their unstable tree is called should have ARM
support shortly if it doesn't already.
