libstdc++ compatibility

As far as I undestand, the C++ compiler interface changed from
egcs-1.0.x to egcs-1.1. Is still possible to compile a libstdc++2.8
(not 2.9) with egcs-1.1 that is binary compatible with a libstdc++2.8
compiled with egcs-1.0.x ?
