I expect that a merge will occur someday, but probably not in the short
term. It might be possible, though, to share the internationalization
code, with, e.g. one CVS tree with two branches and separate code only
where required.
Experience with a project like this might help to grease the wheels for
bringing gcc2 and egcs back together again.
