Ok, I just tested the Epox patch (disable_dma() & enable_dma()) for
drivers/sound/dmabuf.c. It made no difference - still got a total lock up
of the machine. SysRQ didn't work at all.
Any more ideas?

Linux v2.1.120
egcs-1.0.3a
32MB of RAM
100% IDE system.
The motherboard's one of these no-name brands. I can dig out the # from
the BIOS screen on startup if needed - I don't even know what manufacturer
it is.
