Still looking for ways to run the testsuite with the partly functional
gcc-2.8.1 and egcs-1.0.3a compilers. So far, I've established
that my egcs-1.0.3a can't make it through tcl/testsuite. I'm
hoping to get today's results together with my egcs e-mail to see
whether they make sense in comparison with other people's
results.
The -Os compilation sometimes runs twice as fast as -O2 on the
PPro. It looks like it would be nice to have the compiler back off
to -Os when there is register pressure, and go back up to -O2
when there isn't. My build is stalling in libf2c for lack of autoconf.
maybe there's a way around the refusal to configure for
cygwin32.
Native configuration is hppa1.1-hp-hpux10.20
