UCE: Queries made easy . . .

Just in case you're interested, I had some conversation with
abuse@valueweb.net, who (web)host the idiot that spammed egcs-patches
with the following crap:

  Received: from hotmail.com (f230.hotmail.com [207.82.251.121])
  	by runyon.cygnus.com (8.8.7-cygnus/8.8.7) with SMTP id QAA25345
	for <egcs-patches@cygnus.com>; Sun, 12 Jul 1998 16:19:10 -0700 (PDT)
  Received: (qmail 21433 invoked by uid 0); 12 Jul 1998 23:19:09 -0000
  Message-ID: <19980712231909.21432.qmail@hotmail.com>
  Received: from 199.174.184.92 by www.hotmail.com with HTTP;
  	Sun, 12 Jul 1998 16:19:08 PDT
  X-Originating-IP: [199.174.184.92]
  From: "ELF Software" <elfsoft908@hotmail.com>
  To: lnbarnes@smsmicro.com

According to abuse, the spammer was disconnected, received a strong
warning and only then he was reconnected, though ``If [they] do have
another problem the customer is canceled without another word.''.

On a related note: How about configuring the list servers so that
only subscribers to at least one of the egcs lists are allowed to
send messages to any of the lists (except egcs-bugs)?
