As you ask on your installation page, I'm letting you know that I
installed egcs.  Here's what config.guess has to say:
i686-pc-linux-gnu.  This is RedHat linux 5.1 on which I had previously
installed gcc-2.8.1.

I ran the test suite and there were some unexpected failures:
    3 unexpected failures in libio
    1 unexpected failure in g++
    3 unexpected failures in g77
