Robert Lipe has kindly fixed g77.exp (which I should have studied
before making a bug report, sorry) in the current source.
There's still a problem with reporting the g77 version at the end,
though, due to the change in `-v' behaviour.

Details? (Other than the recent installation problem Craig
advertised.) The library shouldn't have to be installed to run the
tests.
