I'm not sure if these reports are very effective in getting this error
fixed.

Have you filed a PR supplying the preprocessed .ii source and the
cc1plus flags used to recreate the error?

Were you able binary search to narrow down which change caused the
crash so the author of the patch can be pressed into service or the
patch reverted?
