GCC build failure, HEAD@146851 on native

With your recent patch, GCC HEAD revision 146851 had problems on:
native: build (seems to have stopped earlier)
Attached is build output for those targets.
The previous build was of revision 146849.

	to decrease number of concurrently open files from awk.  Avoid
