I don't have access to a solaris 2.6 box. On 2.7, I get
checking size of long... 4
checking size of long long... 8
checking execution character set... ASCII
checking floating point format... IEEE (big-endian)
checking whether make sets ${MAKE}... yes
and configuration completes successfully.
I may be able to diagnose this if you send me the conftest.c,
conftest.o, and config.log which should have been left in the failing
build directory (gcc subdir).
