gcc 2.95 is no longer maintained. From the error messages
you show, it seems as if the source code of 2.95 is trying
to play nasty games, and that 2.96 trips over them. However,
I think you are out of luck here since I doubt someone will
want to invest to fix this rather old version of gcc.
