I did the following:
  gunzip gcc-3.2.tar.gz
  tar xvf gcc-3.2.tar
  cd gcc-3.2
  mkdir objdir
  cd objdir
  ../configure
It ran for a while and failed:
configure: error: *** unable to determine endianness
