For bugs with the gcc 2.96 compiler from Red Hat, you should
report the bugs to Red Hat at http://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/
The gcc 2.96 you have is pretty old and needs to be updated.
Get the updates, which fix many bugs, from Red Hat.
I tested your code with gcc 3.0.2 from the GCC project,
and it did not crash the compiler. I got a compilation
error:
index_cat.cc:33: `class Index_report' has no member named `pirep_val'
index_cat.cc:38: `class Index_report' has no member named `pirep_val'
index_cat.cc: In member function `void Index_cat::insert(Index_report, int,
int)':
index_cat.cc:54: `class Index_report' has no member named `pirep_val'
