Well, I don't want to override Bernd (I didn't see his comments before approving the patch, since Richard S opened a new thread which was farther down in my mail reader). But I'm not sure I agree with Bernd's arguments, either.
I don't see why the point here is the SUBREG, mildly bogus as that is. It seems to me that the point is the match_operator. We shouldn't arbitrarily force a reload for a match_operator.
