IMO, it fixes a bug, and a backport looks to be straight forward,
so I see no reason not to fix 4.2.

But, you probably want to ask markm for approval.

I also think it's safe. Moreover, you can have a look at gcc@ and gcc- patches@ to see what other patches are still going into 4.2 these last few days, and it certainly doesn't look like yours is riskier :)


I'm not sure whether Mark's approval is formally needed until the branch freezes, but it certainly can't hurt.
