I think that's a good idea.  We definitely seem to be at a wall, and
tempers are rising.

I'm sure Jeff meant no insult; he was just trying to be helpful, and
respond to my quest that he provide a concrete solution.

I think it would be wrong tocheck in Richard's change over Jeff's very
strong objections.  But, Richard feels that Jeff's idea isn't correct
either, and many people seem to agree with Richard.  This isn't just a
style thing where either side can just say "Oh, well, I don't like it,
but let's go along"; both sides are trying to avoid doing damage to the
structure of the compiler.

So, let's just leave the bug alone for a while.  GCC has known bugs;
this one isn't going to be fatal.  We can always fix it before 4.3, with
either of the available solutions, if we decide we want to do so.  Maybe
Ian, Bernd, or others can read back over the thread and offer an
opinion, addressing the objections of both parties.
