Now, again as my personal opinion, if you really want to contribute,
you should get a copyright assignment. Your patches may be small and
you may publicly renounce to any copyright but those things are
sometimes tricky and make lawyers nervous and because neither you or
any gcc developer is a lawyer, it is better to err on the safe side.

So, please, follow http://gcc.gnu.org/contribute.html#legal and get
everything sorted out. It could take some time but it is worthwhile.
Also, in the mean time, you can post patches and get feedback, it is
just that we cannot commit them. Don't be discouraged if things are a
bit slow at the beginning.
