| It was a joke on the famous temperament of Linus and its evident
| anymosity against some particular warnings of GCC. I honestly hope
| that you didn't actually consider it a threat, it makes me feel really
| sad.
|
| In any case, please accept my sincere apologies if the joke was inappropriate.
No need to apologize. I was trying to communicate the fact that the
database is open and public -- and people do archeology -- so we must
be careful. Think of how it would look like in two or three years
[speaking from experience ;-{ ]
The gcc mailing list is also open and people make some jokes from time
to time. Sometimes those are a bit cruel on rude users that don't have
a clue. Also, the kernel mailing list is open and tracked by far more
people and that doesn't stop the kernel devs from making jokes from
time to time.
I honestly don't think that this particular joke can be misinterpreted
in the sense that I am actually threatening someone to be killed by
Linus Torvalds. I do think that if we put that warning in
Walways-true, kernel devs are going to be upset. I just wanted to said
it in a comical way. Evidently, I should stick to computers and forget
my comedy career.
Anyway, I accept your advice and in the future I will express the
point directly without (unsuccessfully) trying to be funny.
Cheers,
Manuel.
