Re: [Patch, fortran] PR23060 - %VAL, %LOC and %REF

Steve and Jack,
Perhaps. But, I'll note that Paul has disclosed more than once that his time of fixing gfortran will be coming to an
end soon. I'd rather that he spend his remaining effort on
unfixed bugs. Paul isn't going to complete disappear. His
available time is simply going to be quite tiny time.
Jack is right - the patch does not apply to 4.2 because VALUE is not implemented there. I wonder if we should be applying %VAL to 4.2; by no stretch of the imagination is this a bug fix :-)

If the decision is that we should, I will do the honours after the usual ~week. I will try to backport all my recent patches to 4.2, in as timely a fashion as I can. I will also provide any after-sales service that might be needed. Other than this, I will submit no new patches for a while.

I have just committed PR23060, 24325 and 27900 patches, with corrections as requested and one boo-boo put right in the patch for PR27900. Thanks for the reviews, Steve.

Happy New Year one and all.

Paul
