I believe the configure changes are still awaiting review, but the
install.texi changes describe the current requirements so I suggest
to go ahead and commit this part.

PS: Apparently GMP bumped its .so-version between 4.2 and 4.2.1,
which really seems weird. I hope this is going to stabilize...
