glibc decided to do the long double switchover about a month ago
and glibc 2.4 release is planned within next month or so.
As a solution I would propose to amend the compiler release with
a release of a separate patch precisely for this purpose. This would
be good service to people concerned with only updating the compiler
and not
the whole system in one go as well.
