All that you say is true.  My personal pain threshold is presently
quite a bit lower than it would be if I were an active GCC developer
rather than someone who had a few patches to offer but is going to
disappear again once everything settles down.  I do think it is
reasonable to ask active developers doing cross-platform changes
to do simulator testing if they have limited hardware access.
