I guess my definition of "most" is "people who build GNU libtool using DarwinPorts or Fink on Mac OS X.

OK, I'll guess I'll have to figure out a way to let "libtool" both be findable and not findable using PATH

Yes but building a new libtool does not do that automatically. And I have libtool in my path for GNU libool and not Apple's libtool.
