The unused variable in main in curious, I'm guessing it is there just to
make sure that main has a frame, though it isn't clear why that is
necessary to make this work.

Anyways, yes, this looks OK to me.  It relies on some non-ISO C pointer
comparisons, but I believe they will work for all supported targets.
