I suppose not, but frankly I don't see why it's so urgent to commit this patch. It's not going into the 4.0 branch, and
we're not in any immenent danger of a 4.1 release. What's
the deadline? As far as I'm concerned, it can wait.

I don't see any huge urgency either.


I'm interested in the general question, but in this particular case, if everyone is happy to wait a couple of months, it's fine by me.
