Looks sensible, and I seem to be able to reproduce a certain speedup. Do you have a copyright assignment for GCC?


No I don't. Since the approx_reg_cost as it is after my patch is just
copy-and-paste from approx_reg_cost_1 and for_each_rtx, I assumed this
is not necessary, but that is up to you of course.

IANAL, so I have no real clue.


I am willing to sign a copyright assignment, nevertheless.

Might make sense if you're interested in making further changes. I've appended a copy of what I believe to be the right form (found in the mailing list archives).
