The use of @strong{Note} in Texinfo documents exposes a deficiency in the Info format that has existed forever. Info readers search for the string *Note to begin cross-references, and @strong{Note} outputs *Note*, so there is an ambiguity.
The following patch works around this limiation by using the @emph directive instead of @strong when used with the word "Note" or "Note:".
This also affects GDB as of 6.3. Dunno if it has been fixed already in CVS.
