hi,
I want to put a #define inside a struct, but that causes gengtype's parser
to barf. Is this the right way to do it?

Yes; this patch is OK.

 I couldn't figure out how
cpp commands were dealt with outside of a struct.

They're not; they're treated as a part of C that gengtype doesn't understand, like functions.

  Whilst there I added
some commented } and ) characters to keep emacs's paren matching code
happy.

Clever!
