I had been waiting for tree-ssa to be merged (I needed the comptypes hook), and
had only a few regressions to track, then Janis overhauled the whole of
altivec.h :-) and caused so many conflicts... I still have the tree around though.
I can send you a prototype patch next week (I'll be on vacation eight days).
I'll take care also of putting into HEAD the fold_builtins target hook. All you
have to do then is to update the big overloading tables and fix the regressions
(there were 120 IIRC, but the VMX testsuite was far from clean at the time) that
I had not cleaned yet.
