Thanks for the pointer.  I have dropped the redundant change to
libstdc++/prune.exp from my mainline tree, and substituted Andreas'
patch for the relevant portion of mine in my 3.4 tree, and will
retest.

I don't know if Mark wants this stuff for 3.4.0 but it seems like a
good, safe, helpful change to me.
