The reason I did not seek to apply the patch to 3.3 branch is that it
was _not_ a regression fix, but was justified because it enabled new
libstdc++ ISO C99 features.
I have no objection to it being in 3.3 branch. If it is approved, the
corresponding change to cygwin.h for -mno-cygwin case is also needed.
I agree that strictly speaking this is not a regression fix, but
it still is one of the *very few* remaining things that will allow
GCJ 3.3 to build without problems for MinGW. AFAICT, it is one
of most innocuous of changes and has anyways been tested for
quite a while now (in the GCC distributed by the MinGW project)
as well as by me and Mohan.
