I'd forgotten about your post.  This I'm not sure about.  Doesn't the
ppc linux kernel build process make use of -mrelocatable-lib?
I just verified that and was about to reply to Jakub's patch on that. Yes, the kernel uses -mrelocatable-lib on 2 files, but I verified that no .fixup sections are generated, so Jakub's patch is fine with me so far.

On your section patch, wouldn't it be better to backport the 3.3 stuff (like Jakub already partly did in the rhl8 branch), I feel a bit uncomfortable introducing yet another variant of this code...
