killed schedule groups?

In the changelog from the itanium-sched-branch, I see

        * sched-rgn.c (init_ready_list, can_schedule_ready_p,
        add_branch_dependences): Ignore schedule groups.

        * sched-ebb.c (init_ready_list): Ditto.

        * (move_insn, set_priorities): Ditto.

Why did you kill the effect of SCHED_GROUP_P? This was not
an idle suggestion -- this is needed for correctness on a
number of targets.

For example, this breaks the following test case on alphaev67-linux.
You'll see

z.c:109: error: unable to find a register to spill in class `R0_REG'

because we allowed an instruction to be scheduled between
the call to strlen and the insn that copies the return value
to a pseudo.

Please address this.
