I think the theory was that Nathanael'd be working equally in the GCC
and src repositories, and that it would be too awkward to do just the
half of the job which would go on the GCC side, when he couldn't
synchronize regularly to src without messing up the src -> GCC merges.

... maybe a branch in src is the answer...
