Odd... I remember the very opposite to have been decided when someone
asked for clarification regarding what to do about ports. For all I
know, they're part of the backend, and so the general rules say they
should still be buildable with K&R C. Some leeway could be used on
ports that are only ever built with ISO C compilers (i.e., those that
can't be cross-built without GCC and those for platforms whose native
compilers have always been ISO C-compliant). But this is all quoted
from memory, so I'd appreciate if someone would set me straight if I'm
mistaken on any of these points.
