At some point, we ought to have a general guidelines about adding
switches to the compiler and better architecture for existing ones.

I'm not of the opinion that the compiler should be changed in that
way.

Now that I said that, someone might suspect that as a co-worker I was
irradiated by your opinions; no, mines've formed independently :-)
