I don't think we /can/ solve the problem. (My cynical sysadmin side is
showing here.) The problem methinks is one of user education: the user
needs to RTFInstallM. If "./configure && make" is executed, it's safe to
assume he hasn't read the instructions.
How do we solve that problem? (Apart from printing a "we don't support
that, go read the instructions" error and halting, which I'd also support.)
I'm willing to go for just about any approach other than the status quo.
