That would be a *big* help FreeBSD and OpenBSD still use HARD_QUAD.
Any fix for 3.1 would be terrific -- if one too ugly to commit into the
FSF tree.  I still have bugs in my _Qp_* bits.
(long night with TurboTax? :-P)
