It's not the newness of the test, it's the newness of the bug. :-)  If
you can run the test with GCC 2.95 and show that it works there, then
we can apply it to the branch.  But, if it's really a bug that's been
there for ages, we can live without the fix until GCC 3.2.

I'm once-bitten twice shy about patches that look safe. :-(
