Yes, gas had partial altivec support since somewhen and full support
since just recently (not verified yet). What I'm talking about is
the -maltivec switch; if it is there now (not verified yet) then you
probably still want to use -m7400 since it has been there for a longer
period now and thusly don't force all persons to upgrade binutils
(again)....
