I strongly feel this ought to be fixed in GCC 3.0.2, that is, we should
not release any version of GCC which require GNU make.
(If this isn't fixed soon, please file a high priority GNATS PR.)

They way you're always testing your patches is really impressive; this
should serve as a role model for all GCC developers! :-)
