IIRC, I couldn't reproduce what Pavel reported on a similar machine,
and neither could he, since he lost access to that machine. We
have never been able to duplicate the problem since, so we've been
waiting for reports about it. None so far.
In any case, I suppose it would be worth to borrow CVS autoconf's
_AC_COMPUTE_INT framework, instead of re-inventing the wheel in GCC.
