Indeed. After all, it was the idea to make this a "clean" pass
of the compiler, without any unnecessary cruft :-)

I'll see why this is getting executed. I just found the paper you
referenced again, and it makes things much clearer indeed.
We iterate over the initial set and should indeed only find candidates.
