i would occasionally like to be able to, since very few of our vms
systems have compiler licenses.
however, i have not been successful getting the compiler built on
either an alpha or a vax vms system.
this could very well be my own fault, being spoiled by the readily
available binaries for other platforms i use, but i think i have seen
posts to the list which seemed to indicate that vms support was
crusty. i have only a few times in as many years, and ended up instead
finding a system with a compiler license and working with the ancient
c++ library...
