Yes, agreed 100%.

I certainly remember you complaining when it was mandated that the bytecode
stuff be installed.

Nobody's expressed any interest in working on the code.  Other than RMS (who
was rather upset when he found out) the reaction has either been :who cares"
or "what took you so long".

I was utterly amazed when I finally zapped the code and found out how many
places it bled into -- and that was before Jim pointed out some stuff I
missed.
