Which is precisely why this kind of patch is terribly dangerous and IMHO, not
really suitable for a minor release like egcs-1.1.2.
Will someone please test this patch on some COFF systems.
It absolutely can not and will not go in if we can not verify it does the
correct thing on COFF systems.
