Question On Testsuite 12/22/07

When we build gcc is it really necessary to run the test suite?
When we run the test suite are we testing for build bugs or
some type of traditional source code bugs?
Are their build bugs which are not reported as obvious errors?

Two thoughts cross my mind :
(1) try to restrict the language options first and see if you get a
clean build that way.

let me do some thinking for you .. I have built GCC on Solaris many
times (
on Solaris 2.5.1 upwards ) and I seem to always run into some problem
along
the way or the testsuite results are shoddy or something.
I am sure we can muddle through it.
