How do you build GCC 4.0.1 statically?

The Linux From Scratch book used to give instructions for building GCC
statically but in the latest version they use a different method.
However, for my particular set-up I need a static build, hence my question.

If anyone knows the answer, I would be very grateful for it.

Thanks,
Zac.
