compiling problems

Subject: compiling problems
Bcc:

I tried to compile Y-0.2 on a SUSE 8.1 distribution

*** ./configure
Configuration:

Detected OS:      linux-gnu
Install prefix:   /usr/local
CFLAGS:           -pthread -g -O2
CXXFLAGS:         -pthread -g -O2
LDFLAGS:

*** make

i updated the binutils from gnu.org to version 2.14 but it does not work either. to be sure i also checked the version of the ld command - it caused the error message.
